Kavimane in Kuppalli, meaning “poet’s house” in Kannada, is the ancestral home of the renowned 20th-century poet Kuvempu. Kavimane is in the serene village of Kuppalli, Thirthahalli Taluk, Shimoga District, Karnataka.
This traditional tiled house where Kuvempu spent his childhood has been transformed into a museum. It preserves the poet’s legacy for visitors to explore.

Inside, you will find the poet’s personal belongings, awards, and family photographs. There are also household items from his era. These offer a vivid connection to his world. A visit to Kavimane is a journey into the life of one of Karnataka’s literary giants.
Our group of four embarked on a memorable road trip from Bengaluru to Kuppalli in a Kia Seltos. The scenic drive through coffee plantations, lush forests, and hilly landscapes was breathtaking, making it a delight for nature lovers.
We stopped at Gajanana Refreshments in Hassan for a hearty second breakfast. We arrived at Bananki Homestay in Thirthahalli by noon. This is where we had booked our stay. (Read more about our homestay experience via the link below.)
