As I stood at the edge of Sirimane Waterfalls, I watched people of all ages. There were young and old individuals, along with families and friends. They were laughing and splashing under the cascading water. The forceful spray mimicked a natural Jacuzzi. The rhythmic sound of water crashing against rocks was soothing. It was also uplifting. The lush greenery and joyful chatter made me wonder, Why haven’t I stepped into this refreshing shower yet?
Our journey to Sirimane Waterfalls was part of an unforgettable tour through the Malnad region. We traveled from Kuppalli, where we explored the house of our national poet, Kuvempu and the poetic serenity of Kavishaila. We decided to detour to this stunning waterfall en route to our final destination, Shringeri.
Sirimane Waterfalls
Nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats, Sirimane Waterfalls is a breathtaking natural wonder. It is located just 5 km from the quaint village of Kigga. It is also a short 17 km drive from Shringeri, a renowned pilgrim center. The best way to reach Sirimane is by road. You’ll enjoy mesmerizing views of sprawling plantations. Dense forests and rolling hills join you along the way. The scenic drive alone makes the journey worthwhile, offering a perfect blend of tranquility and adventure.
Best Time to Visit
Sirimane Waterfalls is open year-round, welcoming visitors daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. Whether you visit during the monsoon for a fuller flow or in the drier months for a more relaxed experience, the waterfall never fails to impress. Monsoon visits offer a dramatic cascade, while post-monsoon months give safer access to the water.
Sirimane Waterfall is easily accessible

One of the standout features of Sirimane is its accessibility. Unlike many waterfalls that need strenuous treks, you can reach Sirimane by descending a series of well-laid steps. This makes it child- and senior-citizen-friendly. But, caution is advised while navigating the stairs and entering the water, as the rocks can be slippery.
The Sirimane Experience

The sight of water tumbling down the rocks into a clear pool below is mesmerizing. Many visitors, like those I saw, dive right in to enjoy the refreshing spray. Exercise caution. The rocks are slippery, and safety should always come first.
The surrounding area is enveloped in lush greenery, creating a serene backdrop perfect for nature lovers and photographers. While I didn’t spot any wildlife, the vibrant ecosystem adds to the charm.
